MEET TIM LAMPKIN
Tim Lampkin is the CEO of Higher Purpose Co. a nonprofit social impact agency based in Clarksdale, MS building community wealth in the Northwest Region of the Mississippi Delta by focusing on small business development, strategic real estate investing, and social enterprise initiatives. He was recently named a 2018 BALLE Local Economy Fellow. Tim has advised several NGO’s, government agencies, universities, and businesses across the country. Lampkin previously managed the Racial Equity Fund a $250,000 regranting program for the Mississippi Humanities Council with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. This initiative provided humanities programming grants to organizations across Mississippi focused on fostering dialogue about race.
Tim co-founded a fintech company with Sheena Allen to provided financial services to unbanked populations. He is also the creator and producer of the Dynamic Delta Leaders project in conjunction with the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and the Center for Rural Strategies.
Tim previously worked as a Community Development Officer for Southern Bancorp Community Partners (SCBP), a Community Development Financial Institution. Lampkin helped secure a million dollars for various community projects in Coahoma County within two years. Prior to his role at SBCP, he worked with the DEBTS Program funded by the USDA at Delta State University. He provided technical assistance to entrepreneurs in Mississippi Delta.
Lampkin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Mississippi Valley State University, MBA from Delta State University, and a M.S in Organizational Performance from Bellevue University. He completed Executive Education at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and is finishing his Doctorate of Education from the University of Arkansas.
Lampkin was invited by the Obama Administration to share his knowledge with national stakeholders at two White House Rural Council convenings. Tim was included on the 2016 32 under 32 list by Magic Johnson’s Playbook, and has been featured by the Daily Yonder, Dakota Fire, and the Huffington Post. Some of his affiliations include the Community Development Society, Delta Leadership Insitute, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Christian Community Development Association, Placemaking Leadership Council, Next Generation National Advisory Board, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Community Development Advisory Council.
